It is no surprise that joining Phi Theta Kappa can be tough: we are the Internationally-renowned Honors Society of the Two-year college.
Let me ask you this: what is the difference between an average student and a Honors student? Honors students devote a lot more time to learning and studying for the same class as average students.
You see, Phi Theta Kappans are not geniuses conceived in some laboratory funded by the United States Government in order to take over the world (contrary to rumors you ahve have heard). We're down-to-earth people who take our classes very seriously. We know that we need to study a lot to ace an exam, and we know that missing class can mean the difference between the grade 'A' and 'B'.
If you would like to join Phi Theta Kappa but still think you're not smart enough (and I have heard that line so many times...), stop thinking about how much work you have to do, and invest just a bit of extra time on each class you have. Don't be afraid of asking questions, and most of all, take one step at a time. Before you know it, you'll be joining us. Give it a shot: you won't regret it :) Be well, and have a wonderful new semester.
